All the while, a large volcano is erupting 300 miles to the southwest of them. With ash in the air, helis are unable to fly at all. So far so good with ARG, they have not yet suffered a shut down of the operation as other heli services in the area have. Cedar Jocks is heading up to Denver/Boulder area to film some urban skiing, then down to Aspen for some park shooting. From there, Cedar will be road-tripping to Park City to qualify for Red Bull 1976 Games. The ski world weeps for the loss of one of the most influencial athletes who greatly inspired the industry. Many lost their best friend, and many lost their hero. Shane was 39 years old, and is survived by his wife and 3 year old daughter. Tucker Mead is a 17 year old athlete out of Jackson Hole, the fifth generation of his family to raise cattle on a ranch just outside of town. Tucker has spent 15 of his 17 years at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. For the past 7 years, skiing has been his focal point for all his energy and creativity. Competing in halfpipe and slopestyle competitions for the past five years, Tucker recently began competing in the junior freesking competitions. Powderhorn athlete, Rob LaPier, is helping roll out the second annual Jr. Freeride Comp at Grand Targhee this weekend. A big mountain freeskiing competition off the North Side of Peaked Mountain. Nearly 80 competitors have signed up, bringing in athletes from California, Utah, Colorado, as well as various locations from the east coast. Powderhorn participated in a Make A Wish Foundation auction over the radio WFNZ.com....the Mark Packer show. in the Southeast back in January. Matt has been working hard this season on progressing and learning new tricks, notably: triple backflips, bio 10's, and switch landings off cliffs, including zero spins and nose butter fives. He is also currently working on double rodeo 10's. Matt has been spending his time filming in the backcountry, and competing a bit with various podium results in big air, including a Gold in Aspen this year!
